JUNE 2007

JUNE 2007~~~
a few days after graduation I left on a trip, Heritage Tours, with about 130 just graduated kids mainly from my school and the one down the road. I had some of the most amazing gospel experiences of my life. We read the scriptures for a couple of hours a day on the bus along with articles about the place we were about to visit. We learned many songs and sang the commitment song ("As sisters in Zion/Army of Helaman" medley) quite often while we were at the places. These are some of the places we visited...
Martins Cove
Veil Crossing is where the boys carried people across the river
Nauvoo Temple
Carthage Jail
3 week trip=needed laundry days :)

The Boys on our trip gave me and everyone else on the trip a memory we will never forget...we were sent off to ponder etc. and after a few mins a few boys started getting in the water and pulling all the trash and old tires, etc from the river. By the end all the boys had joined in while we watched in silence. A leader with us, Bro. Toone, said it was the literal showing of the power of cleansing the priesthood can do. Below is a picture of all the trash they pulled outGettysburg

Powder Puff

Powder Puff was this past Thursday (May 3). It was so fun!! Our team was the Gold Team and we were amazing. As you can see we made shirts before as a team. We had a local company put "Bash em' and Trash em'" On the front with a trash can, and on the back we put "Lone Peak Powder Puff Football 2007 Champions". P.S. We DID indeed put champions before the tournament even started.. we rock.. we knew we'd win :) (actually we didn't we weren't sure we would but we hoped and i guess whatever we did worked...)...WE WON!!! For those of you who don't understand it exactly it's just a senior thing for the girls where you make your own teams and get your guy friends to coach you (have some practices before) then in one day you do a little tournament. This year there were only 3 teams so we played the loser of the first team and creamed them 20-0. Then we played a really hard team and ended up winning in 3 overtimes (of course they would've been easier except that the freakin' refs were kids whose best friends were the guy coaches on the other team). But all in all we still showed them who was boss and it was amazing! GO FOR THE GOLD!! :) "TRAMPLE THE WEAK, HURDLE THE DEAD, TRAMPLE THE WEAK HURDLE THE DEAD!!" (that was our chant)
